- Lavanya Sankaran’s The Red Carpet - She writes amazingly well. Nostalgia drips from each word in the book!
- Ruskin Bond’s Ghost Stories from the Raj - Interesting collection of stories, most of them written during the period of the raj by those white adventurers!
- Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone - lovely book, written with a style similar to J D Salinger
- Malcom Gladwell’s The Tipping Point- as revolutionary as the Long Tail
- Octavio Paz’s In Light of India - a very poetic description of India
- Pankaj Mishra’s India in Mind - a good compilation of thoughts from different writers on India
- Roald Dahl’s My Uncle Oswald - I didn’t know Roald Dahl could write such raunchy books!
- Roald Dahl’s The Best of Roald Dahl - very touching and horrifying stories -unlike the previous one!
- V.S. Naipaul’s An Area of Darkness - A very melancholy and depressing book on India. No doubt why he comes back to support the BJP!
- Hari Kunzru’s Transmission -amazing must-read book for the geeks! Love every word that has been used to describe the e-mail virus.
- Allan Sealy’s From Yukon to Yuckatan -finally managed to finish the book. The book is perfect for a lazy sunday afternoon under a portico with the usual flora and fauna around you….sigh…
Books I have read over and again
- Satyajit Ray’s 20 stories - The book for nostalgia. Love it for the amazing descriptions of Calcutta and Bengal in general.
- Satyajit Ray’s The Adventures of Feluda - Satyajit Ray’s directorial sense comes into play in his stories. You can imagine yourself in Jaisalmer, or Mumbai in each of these stories! It looks like you are seeing the action in real time!
- P G Wodehouse’s Leave it to Psmith -Hilarious! The best way to make me laugh like a lunatic is to get me to read this book!
- P G Wodehouse’s Service with a Smile - another of those books… P G Wodehouse is da best!
- P G Wodehouse’s Psmith: Journalist - I love the Psmith stories. Wonder if there was ever a character like that on earth?
